Mariah Carey’s sister arrested on prostitution charge, police say
Pop icon Mariah Carey’s older sister was arrested on a prostitution charge in a small town in New York state, police say.
Alison A. Carey, 55, was taken into custody Friday by Saugerties police after an undercover investigation inside a local hotel, authorities told the Daily Freeman newspaper.
She was reportedly booked after she attempted to solicit money in return for sexual favors from a clandestine cop, who was pretending to be a customer, police said.
Carey told police she was related to the “Heartbreaker” singer after being arrested, and Police Chief Joseph Sinagra said an internet search seemed to confirm their relationship, according to the report.
Jail records show that Carey was booked in Ulster County Jail before being released on Saturday.
Police officials were not available Sunday for further comment.
Carey allegedly appeared to reference her sister’s hit song “Fantasy” in a recent listing on the internet advertising her services.
Police urge anyone who had a sexual interaction with Carey to visit their doctor. Multiple reports, including one by The Sun earlier this year, have claimed Alison is HIV-positive.
Mariah Carey’s brother, Morgan, called out the pop star earlier this year for not being close with her siblings.
He claimed the famous singer failed to reach out and refused to pay for Alison’s treatment for various health woes, which include brain and spine issues, according to that same report by The Sun.
He also alleged Mariah Carey never contacted him after his wife suffered a miscarriage.
“But that’s typical, because the world has to revolve around Mariah and there is no room in the world apart from her,” he reportedly said.
