Oprah Angry As Aretha Franklin Gives Exclusive Interview To Rival — Instead of Her
Oprah Winfrey Is furious that Aretha Franklin showed her no respect by granting an interview to one of her fierce rivals to talk about her waging battle with cancer.
Instead of choosing the undisputed queen of Talk to describe her emergency surgery and courageous struggle, the Queen of Soul gave the first interview to Wendy Williams.
“Oprah is not very happy about this.” said a source close to the star. “This is the final season of her show and she is pushing to land all the big interviews with the big stars out there. Oprah feels Aretha could have chosen her instead of this relative newcomer Wendy.”
Aretha underwent surgery in December but has never publicly revealed the nature of her health issues. Following her operation the 68-year-old Respect singer made her spotlight in appearance in a videotaped message that was broadcasted during February’s grammy awards.
Because of the intense curiosity about Aretha’s condition, scoring an interview with the singer was a major coup for Oprah’s rival Wendy.
