Monica Marries Basketball Player Shannon Brown In Civil Ceremony
R&B singer Monica tied the knot with partner Shannon Brown over the weekend. According to an AfroSaxonHeat insider, only 4 people attended the ceremony – Monica, Shannon, their lawyer and the Minister.
Brown who plays for the Los Angeles Lakers said afterwards in an interview: “It is true. Monica is my wife . We got married and I am her husband you know.We are going to continue to make positive things happen.”
Shannon who has been dating the grammy- award winning singer for a couple of months popped the question at the house they share together. Monica immediately shared the news of the engagement on Twitter. She said : ““We realize people will have their opinions. That’s the way of the world. But we know who we are and who’s we are.”
Neither Shannon nor Monica’s family were invited as they joined hands in the civil ceremony to became husband and wife. A source close to the new couple told AfroSaxonHeat that the newlyweds plan to celebrate with a reception soon where they will invite their families.
“Their families will be joining them soon for a big party.” said the source. “It has been their plans all along to celebrate with their families after the main ceremony.”
