Osama Bin Laden Living In Iran
Israeli intelligence claims that al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden and his top deputies have been living in a town in northeastern Iran for the past five years.
The Israel-based intelligence news service DEBKAfile has reported the terror mastermind and his number two deputy, Ayman al-Zawahiri, have been living in the remote mountainous town of Sabzevar.
Intelligence officials said they first became aware of bin-Laden’s whereabouts after Turkish Prime Minister Recep Erdogan made a comment to a Kuwaiti newspaper, in which he expressed the knowledge that Iran has been harbouring bin Laden.
US intelligence sources said last month that they believed senior al Qaeda operatives in Iran had been allowed to exit the country through Syria to plot attacks on American targets.
Until now, bin Laden had been thought to be hiding closer to the Pakistan-Afghanistan border.
