Panic As British Airways Flight Grounded On Caribbean Tarmac For A Night—Exclusive

A British Airways flight from St Lucia to London had to employ emergency measures when the nose wheel came off the tarmac area onto the grass verge as the aircraft was preparing for take off.
The incident happened on saturday and the plane had to be grounded as a result before engineers were called to check out the aircraft.
 
A British Airways spokesman said : “BA 2158  St Lucia to  London Gatwick was taxiing towards the runway to prepare for departure when the nose wheel came off the tarmac area onto the grass verge.”

One passenger who was on the flight said it was a frightening experience. “I could not believe what was happening as we all had to leave the aircraft.” said the passenger who does not want to be identified.

 
The BA spokesman confirmed that Customers disembarked as normal and returned to the terminal building where they had to wait for further instructions from the airline.

“The flight was delayed while engineers assessed the aircraft and customers were given hotel accommodation.” said the spokeman.” We apologize for the delay to the flight.”
