Oprah Winfrey’s  mother was rushed to hospital after becoming severely ill at her home in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. A source close to the Winfrey family revealed to AfroSaxonHeat that Vernita Lee,74, was so upset after learning about how she was portrayed in an upcoming biography about her daughter Oprah that she collapsed and had to be taken to the nearby  accident and emergency department.

The biography “Oprah” written by poison pen author Kitty Kelly, had the chat show queen’s mum so distraught she almost went over the edge.

“Vernita has not been well for a little while now, but after hearing about the cruel things that was said about her and Oprah in the book it made her feel worst.” Said  the source who spoke to AfroSaxonHeat exclusively.

“She was horrified when she learned that the book made her look and feel like an unfit mum and claimed that she does not know the identity of her famous daughter’s father.” Said the source. “She was crying and spending nearly all her time  trying to call her family members and friends about the book.”

AfroSaxonHeat has learnt that Vernita is a severe diabetic and also has high blood pressure. She needs to eat eat every few hours but she had not eaten all day and wasn’t taking her medication properly. Her personal doctor who visits her regularly was the one who found her in a lethargic state and unresponsive and called for help.

She was rushed to Columbia hospital, where doctors help stabilised her. “Vernita’s blood sugar had dropped dramatically and she was out of consciousness. Everyone thought she had been found too late” Said a hospital insider.”Oprah was calling every few hours for an update. She was even getting ready to fly out to Milwaukee when the doctor told her that her mum was out of danger.”
