Scottish Peer Blocks Access To Public Road

The Scottish landlord who presented the late Princess Margaret with a 10-acre plot in Mustique as a wedding gift, finds himself less than popular on his current home in St Lucia, AfroSaxonHeat can  reveal.

Lord Glenconner, formerly known as Colin Tennant, sold several plots to wealthy foreigners on his Beau Estate in the tiny village of Morne La Croix,   is now at the centre of a dispute with some of the expats and local owners after he supported the closure of an access road, cutting them off from the nearby town.

Baron Gabriel Van der Elst, a Belgian financier who purchased land from Glenconner in 2001 said “It was supposed to be a mini-Mustique. Now he is allowing the road to be closed.”

Glenconner sold land to a neighbouring hotel but apparently promised residents they would be able to continue to use the road. “This is not only affecting the foreigners but us locals as well” Says Kenson, a local land-owner who started the campaign to keep the road open for public use.

“This man wants to deny us access to a road we have been using for years and which is the only path we have to our houses and community” Marco Mignucci, an Italian art dealer who bought a plot in 2005, says: “I intend to take legal action.” But Glenconner, 82, is dismissive of the claims. “They are just trying to make trouble politically. I am held in very high esteem by the people here. No decision has been taken yet and I have no influence over it.”
