New Treatment For Ulcers To Be Presented At Forum In Cuba

The results of a study on the use of mangrove trees for treatment of gastro-duodenum ulcers will be presented at a forum to take place in Cuba.

Dr Luz Maria Sánchez told ACN that the natural medicine made from  the Bark of mangrove trees does not cause side effects and has proven more effective than other drugs currently used to treat the condition.

Sánchez said the mangrove pill will now undergo clinical trials and if approved will replace imports of similar medicines. The effects of the product on other conditions such as stomach cancer are also under study.

The medicine was developed at the National Center for Agricultural and Livestock Health (CENSA), where other medicaments for human and veterinarian use have been created, three of them based on the mangrove tree.
